Am I to Tall?
Hey ya'll so I have been looking into buying a horse for some time now and I finally found one! He is a gorgeous 15.2 paint gelding. He is perfect! However after looking at the pics/videos of myself riding him I am beginning to wonder if I may be to tall for him! I am 6' tall and the gelding is 15.2. I really love this horse, but I am now beginning to wonder if I shouldn't start looking for a horse in the 16hh range. Is he to small for me?

Can't possibly say unless we see pics, or better yet a video. So much depends on the build of the horse, and your proportions.
It really does depend on the build. My husband is 6'4 and rides a draft cross that is just over 15.3 hands. He looks fine though because the horse is so wide.

My old BO, who is 6'3" and lanky as heck, rides 15-15.2hh QHs and looks fine on them.
Look at old cowboys and even new cowboys. They're generally in the 5'11"-6'2" range and are riding 14.2-15.3hh QHs with no problems and they don't look disproportionate.

I'm 5'11" and ride a 14.3hh grade gelding. He's built like a tank so it works okay, even if we do look a bit ridiculous (especially jumping when my face is over his ears  ) . I ride my 15.3hh CWB mare no problem, again she's a thick girl and eats up the length of my leg. Then again, I look best on my 18hh CWB gelding...he doesn't look large nor do I look too small.
It all depends on the build of yourself and the horse more than heights, imo. If the horse can comfortably carry your weight there is no reason why you can't or shouldn't ride it!
He's super cute!! I think you two look great together. I don't think you look out I proportion or out of place on him at all.

I think you look fine on him, better than fine, you look good.

People really do overestimate how big of a horse they really need, and it's very trendy (and has been for the past many years) that "bigger is better". This horse takes up your leg well, and you don't look too big/tall IMO.

You look great on him!! Not out of proportion at all. I think the only time people need to ride a bigger horse due to their own size is if say they were too heavy for their horse. I've never seen height be a problem when riding :)
