New Dressage Rider - Show Question...
I am a western riding dipping into the realms of dressage! SO EXCITED!
I also ride bitless and was wondering if anyone else has found any shows that will allow bitless. I understand that rule change proposals have been submitted, but are there any local shows that allow bitless?
I am in lovely Saskatchewan, Canada, and didn't ever really consider showing, but I think I have a horse that I could hit the ring with and would like to try it out!
you might get lucky and find a couple of little local shows that dabble in english and western both that would allow it if you talked to the show steward in advance though.
Chances are, you won't find any. There could be some very small schooling shows held at boarding barns that could allow it if you talk to them before hand and explain your situation. If they've hired a EC certified judge for the show, then I don't see it happening.
Good luck though, phone around lots! You never know what you might find.
At a "discovery" show, maybe. Check the rules, as I don't have my rulebooks with me.
At a "bronze" or higher, definitely not. It is explicitly stated that you need a bit and the allowable bits are then listed.
At a completely unrated show I would check with the show before-hand to see if they would allow it.
Thanks for all the replies and help! I will have to put some calls in and see what options are available for me. I don't think many in my area ar EC Sanctioned or have and EC Judge, so I should be able to get away with bitless.
Thanks again and happy trails!
