My filly has little cuts all over her. :(
My filly has these little, not really cuts, but bald spots on her. It isn't any disease or anything like that. But it looks like she keeps running into barb wire or something... :S What do I do?
Thanks! :)

My colt tends to get too close to the wire and gets scratches a lot. As long as they aren't deep I don't worry much with them unless they are a deeper cut then I will clean them and put medicated ointment on them.

I had my first horse boarded for a few months, and he was turned out with the "big herd" every morning. He was at the bottom of the food chain, and he constantly came in with random little hairless patches on him where he was kicked at and the aggressor's hooves removed the hair without breaking the skin. Never had a problem when he came home and was an only horse or turned out with one other gelding. If she's running with other horses, this may be what's happening, and it's kind of an occupational hazard of turnout. I wouldn't discount the fences, though.

You could get some antibiotic ointment or stuff that will help the hair grow back faster. If it's the fence I'd suggest getting a new one, but until then she might just keep getting into it. You could try to make it electric so she isn't tempted to go touch it.

i would put bag balm on it to keep her from scarring

She is only in the pasture with her mother and our meat cow, and i think he stays away from her... Thanks for all the help. I really don't want her to scar cause I am thinking about going into the rodeo with her when she is older. :) And other then that i still don't want her to scar. So thank you! :)
