I'm taking my horse to camp this weekend! The trailer ride will probably be an hour and a half long... maybe longer... depending on traffic.
I'm planning on using pillow and polo wraps on all 4 legs... but those don't really protect her coronet band. So i was planning on putting bell boots on at least her front feet. I'm thinking i'm going to put them on all fours, though... I don't wanna take any chances.
What do you think?
My horse rarely goes on trailer rides. Loads just fine... but you can feel her moving around alot.
I ALWAYS put bell boots on front - whether I travel 2 hours or 30 mins. I also put cashel wraps on front. As for back ones - I don't know. People have different opinions on that, but I personally don't wrap/put boots.
most of my trailer rides are 5-15 mintes but 2 big shows 40min+ drive i put on shipping boots so it protects the hock and knee also
For my new horse I plan on doing shipping wraps just like you, bell boots on the front, and hock boots on the back. My friends horse has really stocked up in shipping boots, and never has had a problem with shipping wraps, so I am going with them, You should be fine.
