Hey! I have a 20yr old gelding that has sore hocks and swelling in his pastern area on his back legs. He has been on the Legend shot and that was working very well until recently. He got his shot two months ago and is very sore again already. It isnt cheap, being $240CAN. I was wondering if anyone can recomend something else other then bute to use that might either be the same price or cheaper. I have read a couple threads and looked up Tight Joints Plus and was wondering if anyone has actually used that and if it actually repairs the joints or you have to use it forever? Thank you for your time and help!
You can try Pentosan. You can order it from wedgewood compounding pharmacy. Much cheaper.
I have a 24yr old horse with very bad arthritis in his front knees, obviously I don't ride him :-)
I use Grand Flex Senior, it is rather expensive but trust me it works very well! He is mobile because of it and I also own a Pulse blanket which I use on him too, these are very expensive as well but you don't have to buy one, you can often find someone in your area who can give your horse a treatment, they are very affective.
Here are some links to my suggested ideas: Grand Meadows Grand Flex Senior
Home. Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy - Pulse Solutions - Christchurch New Zealand. (p.s. there not just in New Zealand, they are all over the world)
I highly recommend these! Good Luck!
