Equine Sports Massage Therapy

As of right now I am halfway through a course through which, upon passing, I will be double certified in Equine Sports Massage Therapy and Equine Rehabilitation Therapy. I am absolutely loving it, and I could definitely see myself doing it for a living. I understand I won't become a millionaire and will most likely need another job in order to fully support myself.

I know it can vary greatly on many different factors such as location and what you do with your horse, but I have a few questions for you all.

If you use/have used a massage therapist:

-How often/how many times did you use them?
-What made you want to have your horse massaged?
-How much did you pay per session?
-Did you find the massages beneficial for your horse? What kind of results did you get?
-Is there anything you would change about your experience(s) with the massage therapist?

If you've never used a massage therapist:

-Would you ever consider using one?
-If yes: What would make you want to use one?
-If no: Why not?

Thanks so much in advance! Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! Good idea getting ideas in advance :-)

I wouldn't you a therapist because I personally think that they are invasive and wouldn't want someone poking, pulling and hitting me, but that just my opinion.
Instead I use this:
Home. Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy - Pulse Solutions - Christchurch New Zealand.
I find it very very affective on my horses and even use it on myself. They aren't invasive and the horse loves having the treatments. They do the full body and go deeper into the muscles without hurting them like hitting them with a hammer would!
But this is just my personal opinion :D

Good Luck!!

congrats on your certification!

my opinion? golden! I'm IAAMT certified and prior to certification, I thought 'yay! voo doo!' however, since I began practicing, I've noticed a very positive change in my horses' comfort, attitude and ways of going.

good luck!
