saddle pad vs. sheepskin pad
What are your opinions, which one do you prefer between the two? I have both kinds and was wondering if one was better? Is one better for the horses back? I was just worried that maybe the sheepskin would be to hot in the summer to use or would cause the saddle to slip back a little. Just want to know what you guys think.

I ones that look like both.
The sheepskin pad tends to be a showing saddle pad. The 2nd you posted is more of a every day riding/schooling pad..
But is also used in competition. The first pad is shaped to help show the conformation and to keep from any distractions when in the hunter ring. I don't think the sheepskin would be too hot in the summer.
Sheepskin is not too hot. Air can circulate in the fibers if you keep the pad groomed and clean. Sheepskin provides a little cushion too, where the square pads provide none. Square pads are made for fashion and to keep the bottom of your saddle clean, that's it.
Square pads are ONLY acceptable in shows in Jumpers, Cross Country, and Dressage. They should not be used in Hunters or Equitation. Only a shaped pad or sheepskin half pad, both in white or very pale "natural" should be used in Hunter classes. You can use real sheepskin, wool, or synthetic fleece.
If your saddle is fitting even a slight bit too narrow, putting a sheepskin pad in between might make the fit worse - think of yourself wearing tight shoes and adding thick socks.
Sheepskin is a very good fiber. It depends on what you're looking for a saddle pad to do!
I use a shaped sheepskin pad in the show ring and I rotate between a sheepskin half pad, and a square pad combined with my Thinline half pad when schooling. Sheepskin allows air to circulate so it does not get too hot in the summer. If I didn't have to keep my show pad so clean I'd use it all of the time but I want to keep it nice for shows.
