My trainer invented this bosal!

I will never go back to a bit again..

If you are into resistance free training and gaining a relationship with your horse without using force....this bosal would be amazing for you =) Read the "how it works" portion if you are interested!!

Personally i've always wondered how they work?
Like similar to a Hackamore I guess but please explain...

Better pictures would be great than those smallish ones.

Ill try and take some pictures tomorrow guys! Sorry!
Well, Greg (who's the trainer) explained it pretty well in the how does it work part of the website, if you got a chance to look at that!

Im not the best at explaining things =)

The horse already understands your cues. Such as backing, for example. No, a bosal doesnt give as much strain and pressure as a bit bridal or other types of bridals...but if the horse isn't responding, you reinforce the cue by "bumping" the side of it's nose. (a slight jerk of the reins to the side) .

You would be surprised how incredibly well it gets the horses attention!

For example, I was having a really hard time with Casino cutting the circle of the small indoor arena shorter when we were trotting today. (She tends to be lazy when shes wants to be). So I was applying pressure with my leg and pulling the reins to the side....she was still being a turd and as soon as i bumped her, it was like her mind clicked at what I was asking and she became attentive again.

Like I said im really not good at explaining things haha. Im trying!
We have 60 horses at the stables and almost all of our boarders are using the bosal!! I think it's one of those understand by demonstration type things. I wish I could show you a video or something!

Greg has had great success in selling the bosal by word of mouth and recommendation. The online sales havent been near as good because it IS hard to explain without seeing it in action!

Weather bosal will work or not really depends on horse, not just rider.
I spent money before on expensive sidepull (US made, "best ever, gentle, specially designed for horses, people tried and loved", and in fact nicely and gently looking) and both my horses didn't like it, so now it's on hook in my garage ($70 waste)... :(

I suppose it takes a little training with the horse to get them used to it ^.^

kitten_Val 08-27-2007 10:28 AM

Well, it's not only question of training, but whether the particular equipment is suitable for the particular horse. My younger one refuses to have anything on her nose as her nose is extremely sensitive. It's not a question of training, but the noseband (doesn't matter how soft) hurts her if even slightly pulled.

I don't having something against that bosal, and I think it's great it worked for your horse (and in the end that's all of us are trying to achieve - find the tack horse would like). What I'm trying to say is that all these ads about "best for horse, any horse will love it, etc. etc." are not very true, and paying $100-200 just to find out that is very disappointing.

Yes it would be very annoying if you had no success with a piece of tack and paid up the rear for it. I am kind of spoiled in that department. We have an amazing local store that lets you "try before you buy" a LOT of their merchandice. Including saddles!! They are fantastic. And seeing as most of the success in selling these Bosals has been to boarders...they get to try someone elses before choosing to buy one for themselves...So I see where you are coming from =)

kitten_Val 08-28-2007 07:19 AM

You are lucky! :) All local stores here are rather expensive (and most of the time don't have what I need), so I go on the Internet. Was burned number of times there. :( However, I also did find amazing horse tack on eBay couple times (new, not used).
