I love this horse, and the way he rides, but $15,000?
Drop Dead Gorgeous Palomino Ranch Gelding!!!
He really doesn't look like that much to me but :) guess he is worth whatever someone will pay.
I'm guessing a lot of the value is in the desensitization work? If you watch the video there doesn't seem to be anything on the planet that could spook him.
I don't think the asking price for that boy is all that bad, maybe a little high but not outrageous, he seems like a good well broke gelding, I always see good geldings with that much desensitization done to them go for between $8k-15K. And if you read the ad it says that Delivery is included in the price, so that is an expense the owner is absorbing, and depending on where the horse is going, that could be anywhere from 100 bucks to a few thousand bucks.
I've seen ugly as sin hienz 57 horses that are solidly kid broke go for $1500+ so this doesn't really surprise me/
Well since I just looked up how much the Clinton Anderson horses sell for that are practically bomb proof, this is a deal! (If the horse is as good as it sounds) The Clinton horses are $25,000 so I would say this might be a good deal  personally if I was in the market for a $15,000 horse I would look for more of an advanced riding horse. (Of course I didn't watch the whole video) I would think for a cheaper horse of this quality, I wouldn't pay $15,000
He's nice but i don't know about that price. I see him reacting to a lot, he's just quiet in his way of noticing. Like my 2 year old, all she does is widen her eyes when she's spooked, she doesn't run or bolt. Its all in a horses personality
Nice kids horse, not for $15,000 though.
But why is he advertised as a ranch horse? Did I miss something?
Gentle does not always translate to a ranch horse and ranch horse does not always mean a good kid broke horse.
I skimmed the video but was their anything other than the horse being walked around spooky objects? I guess at 15,000 I want to know what his trot and canter look like. I think desensitizing a horse is good; however, most folks can do it. Things like training a collected trot and canter take a bit more.
Horses are worth whatever someone sees fit to pay for them. The difference between a 100,000 dollar horse and a horse sold for 50 cents a pound can be months and location. Which is a way of saying that really expensive horses can end up being really cheap horses with the wrong injury, handling or circumstances.
Okay, I watched all the way through that video waiting for the Amazing Show of Desensitising and I saw nothing that impressed me. Honestly, I would expect any decent horse to have been enabled to deal with all of that stuff.
Would I buy a horse from someone who thinks it smart to video a young girl tucking under the horses belly to get to the other side? No.
Would I buy a horse from someone who puts a helmet on their rider, but not on the girl who has the job of sliding down the horse's butt to get off? No.
A well put together Sales Video but I pity the poor first time horse owning schmuck who thinks they have bought themselves a 'Magic Bomb Proof' horse for a small fortune.
Was all that a little harsh? Maybe - but honestly after sitting through 11 minutes of that annoying background song I am feeling a little jaded....
