Just bought a Quarter horse. She has shoes on front, but not on back. Spoke to Ferrier last night and he said she may benefit from Hoof supplements such as Ferrier's secret (or something like that). Can I have some opinions on these supplements.
I have a QH who had crappy feet too.
I saw lots of improvement using Horseshoer's secret. Right, now he's on SmartHoof (from smartpak) and I'm liking that one even more! It's cheaper and has more Biotin in it and it has pro/pre-biotics in it for g.i. health.
The only thing it doesn't have the Horseshoer's secret does is Lysine, which is essential for proper amino acid use. But, most horses get that in their grain, so it's no big deal for my guy.
Check out smartpak - you can compare any hoof supplements you want side-by-side on their site.
