Hey here's a stupid question for ya

This is the first time we've had the vet actually come to the house for the vet visit (they were always treated at the boarding facility).

Are you supposed to tip the vet when they come out to your place?

eventerdrew 07-15-2009 12:25 PM

I don't. The "tip" is usually the traveling fee in my opinion :)

We dont tip at my barn. I have never thought about that though. Hah. But EVERY time our vet comes to the barn, it is about 90$ just for them to come out. Why? I dont know! I think its just a standard traveling fee for our location.

I have a local vet that is great for emergencies but my regular vet is for like teeth, shots, checkups, etc. He costs more. My local vet is like $10 for travelling fee because he's 5 miles away! lucky me!

I don't tip. I'm already paying an arm and a leg and I don't feel they need it honestly. I reserve my tips for the waitresses making crap money but that's just me. It's $35 for a vet call for a vet that is literally 2 miles from me. No way. I do buy them little christmas gifts though.

My husband has been known to tip a vet. I don't. I'm not sure you need to... My farm visit is $75! That's a tip in itself!!!

Jillyann 07-15-2009 02:43 PM

^^ agreed! Mine is 90$ no matter what when they come out.

goldilockz 07-15-2009 02:46 PM

$44 for our visit today. Not too bad, I s'pose!

My vet farm charge is 45.00, but they charge you that to cover for gas.My husband is self employed and he charges a trip charge to,if not no one would be in business a big part of their money would go for gas expense. But no I dont tip the vet.
