Introducing Jake - Slaughter Bound Belgian
Here are some pictures I recived of Jake. His price has been dropped to $350, and the lady said if he's not gone by next week hes going to auction. We're going to look at him tomorrow, he's about 3 hours away. Poor guy, he seems to have a really kind eye, but hes so underweight, and hes put on weight since she got him, I dont even want to know what he looked like before! what do you guys think of him?
He def needs work!! I think he will be a good looker when you put some weight on him, and get him all cleaned up. How old is he?
The vet estimated him to be between 10 and 12 years old
So he will have some good life left in him when you get him home!
Honestly, I wish I could take every horse bound for slaughter - They all have amazing potential, don't you think?
I just love Draft horses.. I could honestly never say "no" after looking at a horse straight in the eye and knowing his possible future.
If all goes well we're going to put a downpayment on him tomorrow and pick him up beginning of next week :)
Aww poor guy. I bet he'd be an awesome horse if he got some weight on him. He needs some TLC. I'd rescue all the slaughter bound horses if I could. That's what I'd do if I won the lottery. XD
I think you would have one good looking horse on your hands. I cannot believe how underweight he is tho, that is so sad.
Keep us posted on your decision. He looks like he would be outstanding looking. He does an expression on his face asking for a loving hand. He has a really kind look to him.
Poor guy! Can't wait to see him in time once you get some good groceries on him :)
He looks just like my old guy did when I got him. But after about 6-8 months he was beautiful. Take pictures of him when you first get him home, then give him a good worming and get him on some groceries (be careful not to overfeed) then take pictures once a month. If you don't take the pictures you forget how far they have come. Because I was looking at him everyday, I got discouraged thinking he wasn't getting anywhere. My husband (bless him) would have me get the pictures out and look at the progress over the months.
My old guy is now 25-29 (not sure)and he has arithithis and can't keep any weight on. But he's the first one to greet me at the gate and the last one to leave me. His looks are gone but he's still beautiful to me.
Good luck with your guy.
PS. I would have his teeth checked soon as you can.
