stupid tail bags!

So I can't seem to make a tail bag stay in EITHER of my horses tails ... I have the Lycra braided ones and I braid them as well as intertwine the tie at the top in the top of the braid so it won't slide out... but they STILL come out. I think that it is their friends helping but i don't get how they get them out when they are braided and when i find the bags- they are still braided in tacked! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Any ideas?

Huh...maybe you need to set up a camera one night! Would be interesting to see how they actually get them out intact!!! Lol!

One thing that I did with my Pride's tail was to braid it in three braids, one at the top of the tail, one in the middle and one at the bottom...the top two braids covered his tail bone, and the bottom one used up the hair that was left. I found out early on in braiding horse's tails that one braid often doesn't do it, especially with bugs out, in the summer, and if there are pasture mates in with them! Pride never lost his tail braids! It looked pretty cool when it was done too! I haven't started doing it with Danni's tail yet, but I want some of the top tail hair to grow longer before braiding it. Oh, yeah, I didn't use a bag...just conditioned, and braided. I would wash it as frequently as I thought it needed, and recondition afterwards, then rebraid. I would often leave it out after a few weeks of being in, too, just so it could 'breath'.

http://www.horseforum.com/media/grap...isc/carrot.pnga few friends of mine have horses with tail bags. they use the large canvas ones which are great, and have the fly wisps at the bottom. they never really came out often because when they braided it and put it in, they criss-crossed the two straps at the top THROUGH a section of braid, not between two braids, through the hair, and also, sometimes they put electrical tape around it to secure it.

Making sure they're not too long, and watching when it's rainy and wet, and if your horse lies down alot will keep it on, or if you have pasturemates that like to chew on toys such as pretty tail bags lol

i did tie it through the section of the braid :(

even when i just braid the tail he gets the hair tie/rubber band off ... man i just have brilliant horses ..

i should get a camera! i want to know how they do it!
