Need a new motor. HELP.

So right now i have a 93 ford 350 that has a 7.3 international motor indirect injection. She needs a new motor in her. My dad is giving me that truck because iv gone thro 2 already and im taking this one to college. It does NOT start in the winter whatsoever with this motor. Anywhooo. I want to do truck pulls, and actually do good! I want the best of the best, i was thinkin maybe a 8.3L Cummins or a 7.3L Powerstroke, i don't know. She needs a new paint job and some body work aswell, we are getting new stacks on her soon. I do NOT want a Duramax. My dad is also thinkin about gettin a CAT motor put in. What are your suggestions? Iv found great deals on bother the powerstroke and the cummins. I just don't know which one or if there is a better one i want. I know they have been havin problems with the new powerstokes and the new cummins are a pain to get parts for if they break down. Please help.

I don't like Hemi's their fuel milage is terrible. And 5.7L isn't that much. V8's also suck down fuel. All motors you can toon up with a microchip too ;]

I don't know much about engines, but I do concure on the hemi, don't do it. Was thinking about putting one in the jeep, but heard too many bad things about them, ended up with a 350 small block. Maybe look into a big block engine? Chevy big blocks start around 350 hp and go up to 720 hp.

It all matters on how much you want to spend I suppose.

i do tend to agree with QHDragon. big blocks are good too. if u want a good one, and depending on what you want to spend - look into the Edelbrock big blocks, they're a great company and its a really good brand.

Gas motors will blow chunks in truck pulls. It is cheaper just to go buy you a new 7.3 they run 2 or 3k and then go from there..

Well, fords are worth more than chevys and dodge isn't even American anymore...

Besides, put the motor or a newer version of it back in it, your vehicle will be a lot more stable when you go through your upgrades.
