So for all the parents or parents to be, who uses cloth diapers?
My mom used them for one of my brothers. She loved them. because they were easy to clean and reusable. hah
I always wondered...how do you keep them clean? Do you just throw them in some water or what?
Well I would think you scrape off the poppy, haha and then you put them in the washer and then the dryer. But you dont put them in with other clothes. For obvious reasons.:lol:
But what do you DO with the scraped off poopy? Does it just go down the toilet or what?
I am not sure about that part. I never asked my mom.
BUT I do think thats what you do. And she had this little 'tub' I guess you could say where you put the diapers when they were soiled. and it was like an air tight thing. And the smell couldnt get out. Then when you need more diapers, you just wash the ones in the tub, and there ya go! clean and fresh! lol
Neat! Sorry for the gross question :P Reusable anything is always good...I just wasn't sure of the logistics lol
No its definitely not gross, well I mean, to a degree. haha My mom used them because my brother had an allergy to regular diapers. But I agree! Anything reusable this day and age is good!
My husband and I have talked about using cloth diapers as opposed to regular diapers.
We haven't come to a decision yet (still have 3 months to go).
I know in the first few months I'm not going to want to do more laundry to make sure we have enough diapers on hand. I rather have the convenience of the disposable diapers until the baby gets into a bathroom routine (and we get into some sort of routine) Then maybe we'll move onto cloth, or maybe we won't.
My mom had me and my brother and i believe my sister in cloth diapers. She said she liked them because our parts would be able to breathe in the cloth as opposed to the other diapers.
Well there are liners you can use for the poo. Either fleece ones, that poo usually just comes off of, or flushable ones that just go down the toilet. There is also a diaper sprayer, which is a mini shower head that attaches to your toilet, and you spray the diaper off.
You can toss the dipes in a tub of water, or put them in a wet bag, which is just a water proof bag. I don't do anything special as I wash them very quickly and no smell develops unless I forget to wash in time.
I wash them separately from my clothes. Cold cycle for stains, hot wash with soap, then extra rinse.
There are even tons of different kinds of cloth diapers. Prefolds, flats, fitteds, contours, pockets, AIOs, and AI2s. Something for everyone. I love my prefolds and covers, but I also love pockets. So easy. Just like a disposble after they are stuffed.
This is a pocket:
This is a prefold (no cover):
