Decent topline?
Hello all. I'm not really sure if these are good for topline critique, but here you go. She was standing square all by herself so I thought I would take a few pictures.

I noticed that my one saddle no longer fits around her withers. She's much wider there than she was, she was already using a wide tree :O

How old is she? She looks like an older horse that is in good condition. The kind of horse that, when they're under saddle look much younger than they are.
She's got a bit of a sway back but not abnormal for a horse older than 16 or so, IMO. Working long and low helps build topline muscles.
She's a cutie though. I love her clip job too! I like how you left it so that it's triangular above her elbow. Adorable really!

She's about 13.
My BO told me I should leave the triangle hahah

Wow! Ok, she's a bit younger than I thought to have this much sway to her back. I would definitely start doing more long and low work with her. If you have access to hills then trotting hills is great too. I've also heard of pushing against her midline on her stomach until she pulls away (do it several times during grooming or a similar activity) as a technique for strengthening a topline. I've never done it myself so I don't know how well it works.
In the third picture her back seems pretty normal but in the first picture it seems significantly more swayed. Maybe it's just the light.
When you're saying that the saddle doesn't fit around her withers, do you mean it's tight on the sides of her withers or do you mean it's touching her withers on the top? She seems like a horse that would have trouble with bridging and with there not being enough wither clearance...

My Wintec has become too tight under the tree of the saddle. My hdr fits her much better.

We've been building her topline for about a month or two. I've been taking dressage lessons. To put it simoply.

You're the first to say she has a sway back.

I guess sway back is a strong term... IMO it's slight. She definitely looks weak through her topline for a gal of her youth. I'm still pushing long and low :)

Oh definitely.
My trainer does combined training (xc/jumping and dressage)
Right now we're doing dressage. Teaching us to have her even and engaged.
She's a pacer, never raced but cantering is very hard. Her trot has improved greatly.
My trainer is awesome, I definitely trust her to help us.

I figured I would ask about her topline because she has definitely gained muscle.

I've had her for four years. Before me she was just a trail/lesson horse.

She wasn't broke fully until she was 6. I think?
