Same Day, same 5 mins, same pony, same way
well, today i wanted to hop on Pumpkin to get some excess energy out of his system. mounting was the first issue. he wouldn't let me on but in the end i made it. of course, the fun began. after 5 minutes of walking, i asked for a slow trot away from the gate. folowed by the small squeeze, came a bucking fit. it lasted only a minimal amount of time. we were okay but five minutes later, i was in the dirt.

i asked ChingazMyBaby to hop on as she had volentereed the night before. she hoped on (after the mounting issue) and went to pass a jump in a trot, but he swerved in the line up, leaped it, and threw a massive bucking fit as soon as landing had begun. she had already been off balanced by the leap, and came off his back.

sore tail bone (me)
sore head (Chingaz) (was wearing helmet)

So, it was the same day, same five minutes, the same pony, the same way but 2 different girls. if u want to know what its like to come off a pony, visit pumpkin! (we did have the camera with us but we didn't get any videos)

Just like to add Pumpkinzmybaby22 was wearing a helmet as well. My head also feels like its been hit by a truck. Great!

Chingaz take some panadol?
Did you both get back on? He needs to know that's unacceptable, naughty pony.

ChingazMyBoy 07-26-2009 03:29 AM

I would have, but I was crying and my head was really bad and I was winded once again.

Have you had a chiro look at him? it sounds like he might be in pain..

ALWAYS get back on! Even if you just walk around, GET BACK ON. I got dumped by my snot once and even though I badly tore a muscle (couldn't use one arm for over a week) you bet I got back on and whooped his toosh into shape.

I understand the temptation to not get back on when you are hurting, but if it is at all physically possible (as in you don't need immediate hospital care) you need to get back on. It is in my opinion the biggest training you can do to teach him dumping his rider= more work, not less

His habits of being naughty might even be because you don't get back on.
Not long ago a friend of mine had a horse that threw her when a plastic bag blew into the arena, she refused to get back on for weeks. After that every time she got back on him he'd bolt and get her off. She gave up riding because of it. It was quite sad.

I was going to get back on but I was having trouble breathing (turned out I was just winded). Also I don't think we were aloud to? I know I should have got back on, as when Corby bucked me off. I was straight back on I didn't even think about if I was okay, my instructor was like are you okay? I didn't reply because every bone in my body hurt.

My head still hurts and now my neck hurts to! Grrr. Does that mean no riding Tuesday? Screw it.

PumpkinzMyBaby22 07-27-2009 03:44 AM

he was properly punished after the ride. he had a vet check him over when he got colic a little while ago. he was fine. i had band camp over the weekend and then i was sick so i couldn't ride. he has always been like this with riding. it having to much energy that brings this on. when he isn't high on energy, he is perfect to ride. thanxs for the concern but he's not in pain. i would've gotton straight on but my tailbone was sore to sit on. my mum had had come out to see if Chingaz was alright, so i didn't hop back on. he got the silent treatment and is behaving really well at the moment. he realises that he was introuble for what happened. like is said, its an energy overload

Chingaz didn't get back on for reasons above. i didn't hop on as i had to see if her head was okay and that she wasn't winded anymore

Jalah you owe me! My head and neck are screwed! Hahaha shouldn't worry about my head rabbits don't have brains (or at least I dont). So sore!
