Bad or is it Fine?

So, just got back from going to the beach with my friend and her horse.

The horse was really dirty.muddy, they put the saddle on without brushing her.
First, they rode around in the school field.. galloping and stuff.

Next, we walked up steep hills to an arena.
She practiced "tire" racing, for a long time. the horse has never done it before...

After that, the horse was dripping in sweat all over.

We walked to the beach, and we brought her for a swim in the water.

She was cantering her through the water, and swimming with her horse.

For about 20mins... then my other friend grabbed onto the horses tail, and was dragging behind in the water, while my other friend rode.

Then, they were crawling under her legs, and belly, and jumping off her..etc.

the horse, was moaning, and grunting.. nostrils flaring.. tired..

Then after about 30-40mins.. they got out of the water.

It was really windy today, a storm was brewing up..

I said "Your not gonna put the saddle on her, are you?"

They were like "Yeah..."

They didnt have any brushes or anything, so they just chucked the saddle on her back, and did up the girth.

I kept telling them, to just put the saddle on her back, but leave the girth undone, and walk back..

They were like.. no.. i wanna ride.

Then I left..

Do you think that what she was doing with her horse was bad?

Or, okay?

Thanks :)

I think it's irresponsible.

Irresponsible, stupid, ignorant... and would be no friend of mine.

That is horse abuse at it's finest.

Sorry but it's true

I wouldnt consider it horse abuse.. just irresponsible.

Her horse is healthy, and fed well..

she didnt have shoes on.. but they are getting some on soon

She is one of my best friends and i ain't gonna not be friends anymore..

My horse has no shoes and is not abused. You don't have to starve a horse, to abuse it.

If she is your best friend, talk to her. Hopefully it is ignorance.
If you ride the horse with her and do nothing to stop what is at least irresponsible behavior, in my mind, you are at fault as well.

It's the same as people who see a starving horse every day, but think it's none of their business to call someone. If you know it's wrong, do something about it.

if the horse was winded, moaning, and as tired as you say and they were still doing that stupid crap, to me that is horse abuse.

And grabbing her tail while the poor horse is wading through the water? Must be a SAINT of a horse.

I agree with Spastic. Just because a horse is barefoot doesn't mean it's abused. Two of my mares are barefoot and doing just fine.

sorry if I am being rude, I have been having a bad day and don't have much of a censor :)

She was tired.. very.. they gave her 1-2 min rests every 5mins or so..

Yes, she is a real nice horse :) She cantered with the other girl holding onto her tail.

she didnt kick or anything..

I wasn't stating that it is abuse to be barefoot.. i just said that she is getting shoes on her soon, because she needs shoes.

No your not rude, just honest opinions :]

sounds like to me the horse may be getting fed well but there is more to loving a horse then just feeding them the girl is F@@@ing stupid if you ask me why dont someone run her lil ass around in circles for a long time then make her run in water witch is ten times harder on them in the first place and to top that let someone jump off her back and pull on her hair oh sorry i hate people like that they make me pissy
