Sometimes I forget how stupid people are.
Okay so there's this guy that I know, lets call him C. He is an older man, probably in his 50's and he wants to be a horseman and cowboy so bad but really has zero sense for it.

Anyway, last spring, he bought a green broke 4 year old horse. The horse had been started right but was just a little touchy by nature. Anyway, within about 5 months of C buying him (we'll call the horse Gray), Gray had picked up some really bad habits. He would prance, and spook worse than ever, jump when you touched him, etc. My brother also knows the guy and had made the suggestion many times that he needed to sell Gray and get a horse that was very, VERY gentle and very broke. Well, thanks to RFDTV, C believes that he knows everything about horses and there is no other way except what he has seen on tv. He is a devout watcher of Parelli, Anderson, and Cameron but cannot comprehend the actual way of thinking they are trying to teach. Anyway, he was talking to my Dad the other day about Gray being hard to handle at first and he acts like he has never been touched. Dad told him that the best way to deal with that is to get on them and pick out a spot on the horizon, lope them to it, then pick out another spot and lope them to that one. When you cannot get him to keep loping without whipping him, then let him trot until he has caught his breath a little then pick another spot and lope some more. Several days of that and a horse will mellow out quite a bit. Well anyway, C decided that he wanted to ride the other day so he went a caught Gray. And with what my Dad had told him still fresh in his mind, he had a GRAND idea.:?

He tied Gray to the back of his pickup and was going to "lope him to a spot" before he ever got on so he wouldn't have to fight with him for the first little bit.:cry::evil::cry: Well of course, Gray doesn't lead that great and started dragging his feet but C just kept on going. Now, one of Gray's back feet is ground off nearly to the bone and he is very sore on his other back and one of his front. My brother is doing what he can to maybe save Gray's life in hopes that he may end up sound after a very long recovery but it is not looking good, Jason says he can't even get Gray up to eat or drink and is considering just going ahead and putting him down. He is currently doctoring him twice a day and carrying food and water to him but I don't think this is a fight that Gray can win.

When I heard about this, it literally made me very sick to my stomach to think that anyone would be STUPID enough to tie a horse to the back of a truck and drag him until he fell over.:evil::evil: It is not that he was being malicious and trying to cripple the horse, he is just a very stupid man and knows nothing about anything. Why can't people just ask for help?? Now a poor horse has to pay the price. The whole situation just makes me sad and sick and furious at the same time. And to think, this is a guy that wanted to buy Dobe so bad. I am so glad that I said no.

Sorry, I just had to vent for a minute.

Oh my God, that poor horse. I don't even know what to say.

Regardless of intent, I hope this man end up in some serious trouble.

That is very sad. We had a case up here of a "horse trader" my dad knew dragging a donkey like that and killing it because the donkey was being stubborn. . .he actually got into a lot of trouble and had all of his animals taken with his animal ownership revoked and huge fines.

Ooh that poor horse. That stupid man. Poor horse shouldn't have to pay for his stupidity.

That's just terrible, what a poor pony. =[ What does C think about all this? How is he reacting? It's just terrible, I think I'm going to cry. =[

Why in the world? If horses could run behind our trucks, why would we ever use a trailer?

That poor horse.

I hope that Mr no brain and Gary have now parted company. How sad, I hope there will be a happy ending.
