Riding Club Ideas
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I thought this would work. We have a small riding club...our main "event" is Gymkhanas. We schedule Horse Shows but there is never enough interest. So what I am wondering is if anyone has any ideas to perk up interest. Any other events we could do to get people interested. Let me know:)
I think the 'fun day' events would be well... fun. hah I am not sure what you could do at the fun days though..
You need to have a great advertisement! Make posters and put them in as many businesses/public places/barns as you are allowed. You can also post it in an online horseshow calender like this.
Horses: Horse Shows, Horses For Sale, Stables, Stallions, Breeds
Also have ribbons/prizes if you can afford it, and maybe special awards like "Best Groomed Horse" and such, people will be more likely to go if there are ribbons/prizes involved.
You can also start an mailing list of people interested, and send out emails a couple weeks before with an attached class list, entry form etc.
Also make sure there's a class for people of all skill levels.
Hope I helped some :3
I just think we are losing interest which is why I am trying to think of other ideas to get people interested again. We have quite a few people that frequent our gymkhanas but nothing like a few years ago.
Hmm...maybe you just need to amp up your efforts in order to gain some interest, but for now make sure that the people who do come have a great time, despite the lack of competitors. It may take some time in order to have dedicated competitors.
Okay, the website is showing up now :3.
i dont know if this would work since its just a small riding club. But have you thought about having a judging day? We had them all the time in 4H adn they were great! We would set up a day and have a class of riding geldings, brood mares and then some thing like goats or cows or whatever really... its a good way to learn conformation if you have any younger club members...just an idea. I miss 4H!
