First Show for the pony...

I took Gracie to her first show last weekend and she was awesome!!!

I bought Gracie last November and she was green green green. Now she is.... (what's the opposite of green? lol)

Anyways, she was so good considering it was her first show with us. She was quiet with being away from home, didn't mind anything.

We showed in Walk Trot Novice Horse because we haven't established a nice canter yet. (It's more of a run into the canter and not slow down or bend in the corners) We are working on it as we have another show toward the beginning of September.

Here are some pictures of her. Please critique how she looks, not the rider.

Oh, and we got 3rd in the qualifier and 4th in the championship.

I also brought Echo, my 10 yr old Morgan. He's a seasoned show horse but likes to pull things in the ring like try to drag me into the middle or not flat walk.

(As a side note, this horse has no weighted shoes on. This is his natural motion)

You can critique him as well if you'd like.

^^^ He knew the class was almost over and was getting faster and faster thinking the class would be over sooner. Sometimes he's too smart for his own good.

Wow! They both look really nice. The only thing I see- but only if you are turning a corner in the last picture of Gracie- is that she isn't really bending around the corner (it KIND of looks like you are turning, ignore this if you weren't). What kind of bits do you use with them? I'm kind of obsessed with tack right now lol- trying to learn as much about it as I can :).

Anrz: Yea, I understand what you are talking about in terms of bending. She still needs a lot of work on it. I ask her to bend but she doesn't really understand and starts drifting to the middle of the arena. We are working on all of that though.

As for bits, Gracie uses a Mullen Mouth Pelham Bit for shows (with a wrapped curb chain). At home, we train in a plain French link.

Echo goes in a double bridle. His snaffle bit is a Copper Dr. Bristol. The curb is a super low Ported Curb Bit.

Not exactly the same curb below but super similar. Also uses a wrapped curb chain.

I too LOVE all the different tack. I like seeing bits and trying to guess what they are.
