Suffolk Punch Draft Horse
Okay so theres a chubby adorable suffolk draft at a rescue nearby that I am considering adopting but I don't know much about the breed and I honestly can't find hardly any pictures of people actually riding the breed.
Does anyone have any information on the breeds temperment, health, and uses besides plowing? =D
Beautiful horses, not often seen ridden, but with there docile kind temperaments they can make a good ride, found this one pic on the internet!!
The "Punch" refers to their stocky conformation as well as their ability to put their all into their work. They usually range in height from 15 to 17 hands tall and are chestnut in color. Suffolks are known for their calm and gentle dispositions and are well suited for driving, farm work, riding, logging, police work and horseback riding therapy.
Due to how their back is a bit more sloped I'm wondering how difficult it is to find a correctly fitting saddle. I'll have to see what kind of saddle they use at the rescue and see how well it fits him.
