Any ferrets on horse forum? :P
So.. anyone in here with ferrets? :P
How do you keep them, what do they eat, do they bite a lot, are they house trained etc,..I wanna know all about your ferrets and how they live :P
I've just become a proud ferret owner to a 3 months old kit.. had him a few das now and he's really testing me xD
I've gotten help and read a lot about these animals before I got him, of course, but it could be fun to hear about other ferrets :)
I'll just show some pictures too :)
They tend to be very social so if you can, a 2nd ferret would be greatly appreciated by your fuzzy friend. They like big airy wire cages, with stuff to play with, sleep in, hammocks, etc.
They eat ferret food ;] In local pet shop.
Herbie never bit. But that's just him. I have no clue about your youngin'.
But they definetely like stuff to burrow down in. Like a heavy comforter or something.
If I get a second ferret right now, I'll have a hell housetraining and bite training them :P
He has the entire apartment and hammocks and beddings in different places (he's snoozing behind the TV now where he has a blanket, and before ththe played with my bedsheets ;)
Our petstores don't sell ferret food :( I have to buy it online..
:P So you had a ferret..hehe, you're always the first to answer all my threads xD
Coincedence ;) You must get home the same time I do.
Yes, he died. A while ago but I still remember enough to share. They like meats like hamburger and chicken. (cut in little pieces)
I give him chicken wings for his teeth :P
And oil as a treat, it's the only think he's interested in..
Oil, eh? Maybe milk'd be best..? Or moist cat food.
huh? Ferrets shouldn't have milk and cat food is full of sugar and seed-stuff.. besides, nothing of that helps cleaning his teeth or give him anything to chew on..O__o
Edit: Ah, saw you responded to the oil :P
I've been recommended oil for them since it's good energy and keeps their guts good :) Not too much but since it's just treats it's not very much.
I have a ferret and we just buy ferret food from the local pet store, but he gets out and eats the cat's food too. The only problem we have with our ferret is that we can't potty train him. I'm not sure if that happens with all ferrets or just ours, but he goes potty in all the corners and it's a huge pain in the but to clean up.
I wish! They are too cute, but I have to choose between rats and ferrets, and I LOVE rats.
I do know that if you can't find ferret food, a HIGH quality cat food is actually better then most ferret foods. Ferrets also need yearly vaccinations, like dogs
