OK how many people believe that the string test works, or the measure from knee to coronet theory. I have adopted a little 2 year old Palomino cross. At the moment (2 years old) he is 13 hands. Both the string test and the knee to coronet say that he will grow to 15.2 hands high, is this possible????
I am hoping he will at least hit 14.2. I know that his dam was a quarter horse but am not sure of the sire.

I have never done it myself but my grandpa swore by it. I always heard though that if you measure from the point of the elbow to the middle of the fetlock and double it, that is how tall they will be.

It worked for my boy! I though he was done growing, but the string test gave him another 1/2" and he grew again!

We did both tests on all our mature horses and they were all pretty much bang on. Ahhhh gives me hope. Grow little man grow
