Jumping pix =)
Could I please have some critique? I'm having problems keeping my lower leg forward..any exercises I could try? Feel free to critique my horse as well- I've been doing a lot of grids and gymnastic work with him trying to improve his technique.

At the same event I let a girl from my riding school take him in one of the lower rounds- there was a jump with all these potted plants in front of it..well he came to a dead halt at it, picked up half the plants and proceeded to dash off round the arena with the plants in his mouth. :lol:

What I've noticed is that when you go over the jump you're looking straight ahead. I know it's good to do that, I used to do it. But now, since you're probably more advanced as soon as your horse is a quarter or half way over the jump, look at the next jump like this:

See how she is looking to her right at the next jump?
That's all I noticed so far!

i couldnt notice to much, just that your lower leg is slipping back...and that last photo is hilarious! :)

I'll take that advice on board about looking to my next jump, thank you! And horse is quite the clown at the most inappropriate times, haha. :lol:

In the first picture it appears that you are leaning to the side, so make sure to stay straight and look right ahead (unless your on a tight course and looking for your next jump).

Your shoulders appear somewhat slouched, try to keep your shoulders back a bit and look out and over between your horse's ears.

If your legs are sliding back, it means your not bending from your hip enough. Try gripping more with your knees.

You horse looks great :D

A way that can help keep your lower legs in place is riding and jumping without stirrups. I do this about once a week to keep my legs strong. It makes you learn how to grip with your whole leg and not just your knee and thigh. It also gives you a lot of balance and trust in your horse. Right now I compete in jumpers where its basically all speed and turning and I have a lot of balance on my horse from riding without stirrups.

rambo do you feel like you squeeze your horse with your legs when you jump? because if you do then we have the same problem. my legs slip back too and it's hard to control that.

Relese a little more and higher up on your horses neck. Try grabbing mane when jumping the higher jumps =]. Good Work though.

& silver..yeh, he tends to be kinda hesitant at times so he needs plenty of leg, is that what you mean? It is hard to control..I practise endlessly on the flat in canter etc, but as soon as it gets to any jumps my leg just..slips. :?
Yes, I may start doing more stirrupless work- agony, but hey, it works. ;)
I'd like to say I could use the leaning & looking to the side thing as an excuse to get to the next jump on a hairpin turn- but this was a showhunter. =P
I'll work on everything I hear. =)
