clicking knees and stiffness?
Willows front knees have been clicking for about a year now. I noticed that they have been clicking a lot more lately, and just yesterday I noticed that she seemed almost stiff when she walks. Her behavior has also been much worse than normal lately (acually, she won't pick up her left lead at all). She will still walk jog and lope, but not as long as she used to like to and has just been miserable to ride lately. She hadn't shown stiffness until yesterday so I have been riding her all summer. I was just wondering what this is? I was thinking maybe arthritus (sp) even though shes only 8 and has been a trail/recreational pony and hasn't had alot of intense work ever. I also heard that maybe she was loosing fluid in her knees or something like that. Any ideas? The vet is coming out on thursday for innoculations, and I was going to ask about it then but our barn is having a little show on saterday and I was hoping to be able to ride her and have her behaving in time for that, so if I can figure it out before that would be great!

well, judging by where you live, im guessing its cold? the great white north sounds pretty cold to me lol. she probably just has mild arthritis from the cold climate ( if thats where you live) but if its a rather warm climate, than im not to sure, id still say she would have slight arthritis.

have the vet take some xrays and check it all out. could be arthritis, could be deteriorization of cartilage in the joint

I really can't afford xrays, but the vet is coming in a few days to check her and another horse out. (:
