Does it bother you to see "non-horsey" people wearing the gear?

I have seen it many times, a girl with riding pants on, a pair of tall boots. and I say, "hey, how was the riding today?"
they look at me quizzically and say "oh, i dont have a horse"

really?? :???:

i dont get it. LOL

what do you all think? does it bother you?
it kinda irks me, but thats just me.

As long as private body parts are covered, I'm not too bothered by what ever another person wants to put on their body. If they look really weird, I get as far away as I can, as quick as I can.

Doesn't bother me but definitely makes me laugh.

It's only because us horse people have the best style around.

After all don't they say imitation is the highest form of flattery? Lol

It's just like people wearing jersies. I don't get it, but, whatever. Hopefully they buy real horse brands and support the equine industry.

Doesn't bother me a bit. After all, what's more comfy than well used horse clothes?

I don't understand it, and most of the time I'm left wondering if they even realize that it's riding gear they are wearing (I'm guessing no). It'd be like if I decided to walk around wearing those tight spandex outfits the bicyclists wear. I don't ride a bike... Why am I wearing this!?!?

I would guess they do not buy real horse brands since other clothing brands have started making these things based on the trend.

It definitely annoys me. I get a little upset when I've spent thousands and worked many years in this sport and I see people wearing Macy's boots with riding pants etc. because its "pretty"

Feels a little degrating. IMHO

I just wonder why the heck they're buying such expensive clothing just to pal around in! Western is a little different, but sheesh some of those breeches are over $100 for a pair!!!

I'm cheap, so while I might spend a few bucks on show clothes (only things I can't make myself) I would faint putting on a $100+ pair of pants to go to the barn in. Or walk around the mall in, for that matter. I guess I just don't understand expensive clothes for everyday wear in general but you can get look-alikes, often of decent quality, for much cheaper!

Nikkibella, I guess I would see where you're coming from if they were buying their way to the top in shows or something, but I've worn a number of things that are "industry inspired" when I'm not a part of it, and I don't feel like that's offensive b any means. For instance, I've worn goggles for steampunk shenanigans but I'm no pilot, nor do I have any real use for them. Shoot, I don't even ride English much but I think a pair of legit tall boots looks extra sharp with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings. It's just fashion, imo, but to each their own I guess! :-)

Does it bother me? Not in the least. I can't see why it would bother anyone, personally.
