What do y'all think of my gelding Scout?
Okay, so I have never asked ppl what they thought of my gelding because sometimes I am afraid to hear the harsh reality, lol. But, he was free as a yearling because his owner didn't want him because he had no color to him. He is just a registered breeding stock paint with mainly QH in his background.

He just turned 2 yrs old in April of this year and he went to 30 days of training and did well. He already stands at 15.1 hh, I just measured him when I took these pictures on the 23rd of this month. I know that he is still down hill but he is only 2 yrs and of course still is growing. When he got back from the trainer's facility he came back very skinny and a dull looking coat so I have had him on Omolene 200, Nu-Image, and Horseshoer's Secret and it has done wonders for him. :)

I am not gonna use him for any sports, he is just my buddy and will be used on trails and cattle drives. I also was hoping maybe to show him, not for the win but for the experience for him. In his ped it was nothing but halter horses and western pleasure, but I wasn't sure if he had the confirmation of a halter horse but I also know he has some filling out to do as he is only 2, so let me know what y'all think. Thanks.

Walking in from pasture when I called him.

His poor main was roached when he had a know that was pulling at his skin so bad he was getting blisters so I just hacked it all off and now waiting for the day when it all grows back out, lol.

Head shot.

He kept moving and turning to try and see me everytime I tried to get a good rear shot, lol.

Walking in the roundpen.

Scout and I, wish I could have got more of him in there, lol.

This is Scout without the saddle. The scab on his hip you see on his left side is something from the pasture I believe. We have a HUGE fly problem an he is probably rubbing on the shed or barn, just when I was getting him all spiffied up.

So after lunging without the saddle I took him to get it on. The saddle is my friends but I didn't bring mine over so I am not sure if it is a good fit or if it was just popping up in the back because he was trotting and loping.

When he lopes he gets in the wrong lead sometimes and I will have to make him switch, but he is getting better, he is actually better when lunging to the left instead of the right.

Just got him saddled up.

His wrong lead as you can see

Can y'all tell me if this is normal for his heels to go down that low?

His stride is sooo smooth.

Scout after he is all hosed off, lol

Thanks for looking y'all and sorry for all these pictures. Everything was taken on August 23rd.

Yeah I think he's purty even though Im not big on QH types. With his mane atleast you did a good job. I did the same to Dana and it still looks less than great!!! Love the colour he went when he was wet too!

He's very pretty.

Wow, Scout is so handsome! You're lucky to have gotten him!

Awwww, thx sooo much y'all, I actually expected alot of negatives only because I have never been good at looking at confirmation on a horse even though I have had them all my life. I guess I was too young to care but I am just interested in seeing how his is.

I tried so hard to take pics of his side rear and front, haha, but that wasn't happening without someone helping me because he follows my every move and wants to always try and look at what I am doing, lol. I know these pictures aren't the greatest, but I really want to show him in halter and didn't know if he had the right build to win anything. Even he he didn't win I wouldn't mind at all, it's the experience around the loud speakers, ppl, and other horses that I would love for him to get.

Also I REALLY LOVE his color too. He is not your typical brown looking bay, he just has that reddish tone to him which I love because he matches my hair color so I always say we were meant to be, lol. I couldn't have asked for a better FREE horse, lol, that lady was crazy.

This is his ped and you can look and see some nice horses.
a Colorless Coosa Quarter Horse

My favorites in his ped is Zip's Chocolate Chip, Coosa, and A Classic Alliance. It seems they are all halter horses but I am not sure, that is why I had some hope for Scout. :)

He's a hansome boy! The belly strap looks like it's riding up little high... I think it should be a bit lower, but that could either be I'm too tired and my eyes are screwed up or thats just the saddle. But it looks a bit off to me.

He's very handsome!!!! As for the heels, I'm not sure if I know what your asking.

Haha, your not seeing things. When we had the belly strap normal, Scout was being antsy, and when we took it off, the saddle is light and without someone on it, it was bouncing in the back so, lol, I am laughing cuz my friend took the belly strap and tied it foward with a white hay tie thing to the front girth, lol so that way it didn't go to far back to make him uncomfortable. He has only been under saddle since June but he is doing good. I have been prego, 9 weeks now, yay, so I have her help me alot when I work him. Her breast collar was also really big so she made it really high up on him and she had to clip it on the back of the girth.

I don't know what I was talking about on his heels either. I guess I didn't know if they were flexing to much in that picture but after looking at some other pictures of horses on here it seems normal. I guess it just looked awkward to me because I have never paid too much attention before on how much a horses leg and heel can flex. So nevermind my comment on it unless it does seem weird, lol.
