My sick ferret =( Help?
Well I have had my two ferrets for about a year. Bear, the healthy and slightly crazy brown one and Whitee, the sick white one. Well Bear has known Whitee his whole life. Whitee is around 3 1/2 or 4 and Bear is around 3 or 3 1/2. Well anyways I'll tell you about Whitee since he is the one I want YOUR opinion on.
So on Sunday when I let the out to play in my room I noticed Whitee was off balanced. He was so off balanced he would walk like one step then tip over. I also noticed he was drooling a whole bunch! So I yelled for my mom and she came in and we checked to make sure he could not have eaten anything and we found nothing. Then we checked Bear and he was totally normal. We automatically decided we needed to talk to Dad. Normally we would have just tried reserching and all but Dad has a soft spot for ferrets so we asked what to do. He said to call around vets and ask if they treat ferrets and once we found one we would go. Well it was very difficult to find a vet that was open, it was Sunday, and it was very hard to find a vet that treats ferrets because they are illegal here in CA. Well we found one. They were an hour and a half drive away but we made an appointment and went. They took blood samples and a urine sample. On wednesday they called us saying that they think he might have kidney problems, a tumor in his painkrius, and low blood sugar. They said they were going to have a specialist look over it and they just told us.
The specialist agrees, his kidneys arern't functioning correctly and neither are his livers. He has high blood pressure and most likely has a painkriatic tumor. There is also something else that starts with an i and the vet said that Whitee has one o the highest he has ever seen inn a ferret. Things arent looking good for him. We have an option of getting him scanned and then biopsied to get rid of the tumor but there is a chance of it growing back. We also have the option of giving him medicine for the rest of his life but we dont know exactly what is wrong so the medicine might not even work. Either way it would cost a good chunck of money and would make it so he needs medicine every day.
If anyone has ever had this happen please let me know what you did and how it turned out!
Ill post a pic. Thanks in advance!
P.S. He has always been thin.

It sounds to me almost like he could be adrenal, which is a fatal condition in ferrets. I've dealt with it many times, and what my vet always told me was to keep them warm, comfy, and fed. When they're ready to let go, they will let you know. I wish you the best.

If you cannot afford exploratory surgery or further testing on him, you should euthanize him. If you can afford the medicine, tests, etc, I would go ahead and see how it goes. This is solely my opinion, but as soon as his quality of life deteriorates, I would euth. It's not fair to keep them around while they're uncomfortable or in pain.

It is completely up to you, but at this point I personally would euthanize him. But that is what I would do, not what I'm saying YOU should do. It's a choice you have to make.
I always consider the animaks quality of life. If there's a good chance they will become sick again or have a poor quality of life, I find it easier on them to let them go. It's hard, but I think it's usually nicer to them than having them go through treatment, and then still be sick
