I fell in love - and she is mine!
So, we made our little drive (all 3+ hours of it - including the scenic detour courtesy of GPS, lol) and met Eclipse yesterday. She is absolutely perfect! Okay, truthfully she is 3 years old with only about six months of actual handling - and that is minimal due to living on a farm with lots of other animals in need of attention too- on her, still pretty shy/jumpy around people and needs a lot of work - but to me, that is perfect because we have nothing but time, patience and attention to give her and bring her around. She is just at 30 inches - a tiny little girl. My son is absolutely in love with her and she was most taken with him out of everyone present -- probably because he was closest to her size and, therefore, the least scary. I really think this is going to be something great he and I can share together. Funny, we were supposedly getting her for me and when the time came he wanted to pay for her (meaning hand over the check, lol) and then he called my husband all excited to say that he just bought a horse
She will be staying where she is until the beginning of next month while we get things squared away here and get through an upcoming trip out of town so we can be here to really supervise the whole introductory period and make sure everyone is playing nice with each other in our pasture. The new barn should be here in about two weeks and Katy and I will be mini-izing the fence next weekend. The only downside to this whole arrangement is that she is so far away that visiting in the mean time isn't really an option :-(
The only catch is that she is currently running in a small herd that has a stallion ( a pretty palamino paint) and there is a fairly good chance that there is a baby on board for an early summer arrival. Not exactly what we were looking for, but not a "bad" thing either - and since it isn't even 100% certain, I wasn't going to walk away from what I really wanted, her!
So, here is HollyHula: (the pictures aren't great, I was too busy falling in love to take very many - but I am sure I will take way too many once she is home with us for good)
Jake, my son, with HollyHula -- not two seconds earlier they were both looking right at me and perfectly posed -- of course she turned away just before I actually snapped the picture
And, here is the maybe-baby daddy. HE is the sweetest and most friendly little mini I have ever been around. He was lapping up any and all attention he could get before we took just our girl into the barn for one-on-one time:
She is beautiful! Look at that tiny little head.
And baby daddy is a looker too.
She is so adorable :) I love the stallion. Hehe And just to let you know.. Mini's are addictive. I have actually been debating on selling my big mare and buying Arrow a friend LOL But I can't because I love her to much.. But maybe buying another mini is in my future sometime Haha
Awe, congrats! She is so pretty! I'd love to have a mini one day!
Ahhh I love her ...she is so sweet, I love the "possible" baby-daddy : ) He has a rock star look to him : )
Congratulations on Holly. She is a doll. You will love that mini and will probably wind up with mini more.
What a cutie! congrats. :)
awww she's a cutie.
Congrats! :) She's such a cutie :) And yes, they are VERY addicting, you have been warned ;) Make sure you read all about foaling out and make sure you are THERE when it happens, so much can and often does go wrong foaling out minis. The possible dad isn't palomino, he is silver bay and looks like maybe dun as well. One of my favorite colors ;)
I bet the wait for her to come home is going to be LONG and HARD! LOL I bet you can't wait to get her home and play with her! :)
