cleaning saddle

Whats a good cleaning product for just wiping down a saddle and getting the sweat off? I have a good conditioner (Skidmores's) but I'm needing something to clean the parts that come in contact with my horse and I heard your not suppose to use saddle soap on the parts that touch the horse. Is Murphys Wood Soap and water ok?

How would sweat get onto your saddle? Hmm...well when scrubbed my saddle on the wool I used dish soap and water! :-) But that wasn't for sweat. It was for dirt from being storaged.

yeah me too, I read someplace not to use saddle soap on the parts that touch the horse. I have been looking ever since for something to remove sweat stains. Maybe whoever wrote the article was full of horse manure.

Yeah, I'd have to say that's a new one on me.

I was told to never us Saddle Soap either. Weird.

So I'm not the only one...Thanks I feel better :) I still won't use it, even though I can't recall where I heard it.
