Since there wasn't a post about Valentines day, I felt it my duty to start one. Who could allow this day to go by unmentioned? Tomorrow is even more important...tons of chocolate goes on sale! :D
So, what did ya get?
Um. I got a card from my mom/dad/dog haha. And I took me myself and I to go see RoboCop.....
Oh. And all that was after waking up at 0300 to work a range in the mud lol
My boyfriend gave me a dozen white roses. We went to a movie and then to pizza. Tomorrow we have massages scheduled and then we will be baking sugar cookies and taking a nap.
Vday is a big day to me, I actually wrote a (second) blog post about it:
Valentine’s Day – Take Two! | Blaze Orange Life
(totally sorry if the whole linking thing is not allowed, but I didn't want to C&P the whole thing)
So, what did I get (as a single woman)? A nice solo dinner, love from my dog, several great phone conversations with my best girlfriends, and remembering that I am loved.
As a man I didn't get anything but love from my woman. What I gave was 8hrs of work at work, dental work for the horse ($165) and dinner for two ($70). Tomorrow I get to go to my parents and do a bunch of chores as dad had minor surgery Monday and is on doctor orders to do no work for 6 weeks.
Okay, Darrin, that is just not the spirit. :)
I got pink roses with a little stuffed horse in the arrangement with coloring "close" to one of my horses, and a card. I gave my honey a card and a special jar of organic honey with the comb (which I though was pretty darn clever of me, you know - "sweet" and "honey"). See? Guys get stuff!
But really? I am not sure about the whole "obligatory" thing with Valentine's Day. I like to be surprised at random. But, I guess I would feel like, "hey! where is my Valentine's stuff!!!", if I didn't get anything.
Well, I purchased myself a ball python that I had my eye on for awhile! :)
Otherwise, this Valentines Day went by pretty quickly. I was at work most of the day and when I got home I was greeted by some ice cream and cinnamon rolls that my father purchased for the family.
I got a small box of chocolates from my supervisor. (he gave one to everybody lol, nothing weird.) And got to chastise my boyfriend for not getting me anything. To which he said he couldn't read my mind. Didn't know that I had to specify, hey it's vday do something special! Lucky thing I was in a good mood. We ARE having dinner one of these nights though hehe
I got a Russell Stover box of chocolates from my BFF...she had re-gifted them because her mom gave them to her and then she ate half of them haha! But, it was all in good spirit! :-)
I was also the recipient of many pranked out Valentine's Day cards leading up to Valentine's Day from one of my managers. We pull pranks on each other a lot. I'm a real hit with the old men at the store (meaning a lot of them flirt with me...ick...got asked out by a 40 year old the other day and I'm 20), so he got me a Valentine's Day card "signed" by one of the old men. So I made sure yesterday that he got some balloons from his favorite customer who asked him to the bar. She's pretty icky and has bad teeth, and he calls her Candy Corn. So he got a balloon with kisses on it and one that said, "Meet me @ the bar 2nite?" using a bag of Candy Corn as a weight. I'm sure today I will find something equally displeasing in my work locker...
My mom got me some Dove chocolates and a horsey t-shirt.
I've been single for 3 or 4 years now, so I've never really enjoyed Valentine's Day. Lol, woe is me. It's the one day of the year where I really wish I had someone special in my life to go out to dinner with or cuddle up to or to bask in the romance lol. Valentine's Day definitely makes me feel a little lonely!
I got my husband and my son each a tiny box of chocolates and then I cooked them a BBQ dinner. Husband cleaned my barn. I'll take that any day!
We are going to lunch today after they get back from tutoring.
