All About Refrigerators?
OK -- I'm going to break the bank and buy a 'fridge. Any comments from anyone on what they really like and dislike about their 'fridges? I've been looking at the bottom freezers and not sure I like the drawer idea, but the door seems ok. Comments?
I'm trying to bone up and buy tomorrow -- depends if it's raining or not:wink:
I have the drawer freezer and it's really not so bad :)
I don't like the 2 doored ones where the freezer is on one side and refrigeration is on the other.
I find there is never enough space and when you open the door you get buried by a frozen bag of peas, grapes, carrots, anything that it feels like dumping on you. Makes you never want to open the door.
That's one way to lose weight! :D
I did it -- I bought a GE Profile 22 cu. ft. Spent more $ than intended, but that's OK. It's nice. Went with the drawer after all.
I had one of those side by sides years ago. I didn't like it either.
Went on a real spending spree -- bought a new couch too (cheap one though). This is going to be an exciting week for me! LOL
Spending the kids inheritance are you. LOL
You know sometimes you JUST have to spend helps you feel good.
I have a side by side. I wanted a freezer on the bottom but I wanted the ice/water in the door. At that time they had just come out with them and the reviews were terrible with them malfunctioning. I think they got the bugs out now. Would love to have one. Gotta have my easy ice and water though :D
I bought a new sofa too! I used my "quit smoking" money
well it is kind of like the upright freezer vs. the chest type freezer
the chest type freezer is better in that everytime you open the
door all the cold air does not flow out.
but to me the more complicated a machine is the more likely it is
to break and the more it costs to fix.
give me the old freezer on top with an Ice maker. $200-$300.
I can change the ice maker if necessary but to have a repairman
work on it is big$$$ and heavan forbid something happens to the
compressor or other printed circuits in the fancy models
for what you will pay to repair it a new one can be had.
and a refrig or freezer as far as energy use per year are one of your
biggest users in a home.
Regal Charm -- actually I am spending the kids inheritance -- my mom's kids! Kind of ironic that you would say that. I have yet to buy anything that is just for me from the money -- everything spent has been stuff that should long ago have been done but there was never the money for it: new windows, pay off debts, a weekend getaway with the kids, that kind of thing. I guess maybe my new hay trailer is just for me. And I'm enjoying not having to scrimp on every penny for a little while. Put some money down on the mortgage, but can't do much else until the estate taxes are all done. There won't be any inheritance for my own kids though. I'm still trying to figure out how my parents ended up with any money at all. I'm really hoping I'll have some of this inheritance to see me through to start my old age, though it certainly won't see me through to the end.
I certainly agree about bells and whistles. I don't like the ice-makers and water and dvd's in the door and electronic warning, blah, blah, blah.. in the end if I wanted that size of fridge, within my budget, my choices were pretty limited actually. So I got some fancy do-dads that I don't really want, though no water hook up. Been there, done that, didn't like it.
V -- guess what -- now instead of two doors side by side, you can get french doors on top for the fridge and two drawers below for the freezer! Sheesh, enough doors already!
So I sold my old fridge today and my new one isn't here yet! We're living out of a cooler and rubbermaid! Oh well.. it's kind of nice having the extra space in the kitchen. New fridge hopefully tomorrow!
Well, why haven't you bought anything, Just for You?
you should you know, treat yourself to a nice lunch with friends
buy a new outfit. go on a mini weekend vacation. new hair do
do something just for yourself.
There isn't a whole lot of stuff that just *I* would want anyway. Right now off the top of my head, I would love to go away for a week and pretend I don't have a care in the world, but w/o my hubby it wouldn't be fun and he refuses to go. Other than that, --- oh I know -- I'd love an oil-skin coat, but I'm REALLY hoping that someone gets me one for Christmas. Anything else is too much money for me to justify -- like a horse trailer or a new truck or a body job on my old truck... I guess I'm usually just a satisfied customer despite my complaining.
BTW, I picked up the 'fridge today. It IS awesome. I wish I could stay up late enough to see my 17yr old son's face when he comes home from night shift. He's gonna LOVE it. Hey, he's 17 and male -- food is VERY important! :)
hummm. well who said you have to take hubby. LOL
get a girlfriend and go. even if it is just a ladys night out.
GO  have fun you deserve it.
beside haven't you sacraficed for your family enough not to have
a little fun for yourself. or treat yourself with something Just For You.
drop alot of hints about the coat and how much you would like one.
OR ELSE> lol:shock:
LOL food is mans 2nd best friend.
