Equine Assisted Therapy
My sister is actually in training for Equine Assisted Therapy. She's currently a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at a rehab institution and absolutely hates it. Someone at her work told her about a program in Colorado that trains someone with her credentials to be able to use horses to provide therapy to those in need. She's about halfway through the program and is really enthralled with the whole process and how valuable a horse can be for those who need therapy (all of us in my opinion). It was her getting involved with this program that sparked my interest in horses.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this type of therapy? Anyone used it and saw positive results? Are there any Equine Assisted Therapists that can provide some information? Thanks!

As a side not, I always have to tell this story...I was telling a friends dad about how my sister was training to do Equine Therapy and he looked at me and said, completely serious, "Why do horses need therapy?" That's about the time that I would have smacked my palm against my forhead in disbelief if it weren't rude! Always a funny story though!

Yep, once I finish up my grad work and get my MSW, Im going to use it in Equine Facilitated Mental Health. :) Just curious, what is the program she is in? There's not many accredited places and I'm always interested to see new programs.
