A question to all you experts :-)
I have this paint mare and just out of curiosity I would like to know her good and bad sides, breedingwise. I have no intentions about her having a foal but I just don't know anything about anything about breeding, so... you know.. just to know if any of her ancestors have been or are famous and for what
Not the best photos but that's what I had right now
Ls Tampa Paint
I cant read pedigrees to save my life, but she is REALLY pretty!
She is a very pretty girl. For pedigree wise she really has nothing special, on top the only horse i recognize on her papers is Docs super star, and then on the bottem she has Hollywood Jac 86 on her papers. But other than that most of the "big name" horses are off her papers.
I'm no expert, but there are a few things that jump out at me with this mare. (I'm not touching the pedigree, but I am not familiar with anything on there, so I will let the pedigree experts look at that).
If she was squared up, an analysis of her conformation would be easier, but from what I can tell she has a good length on the neck, nice overall balance, and good sturdy legs. I think her biggest downfall is her hind-end. She has a very steep croup and is sickle hocked. I do love her dark coloring. :)
IF you were to breed her just what sort of offspring are you looking for. To sell. For western, for English and what discipline ?
Actually... she go's back to the "big boys" on the QH side and some pretty famous TB's as well. Most of them were built for speed, a few halters and lots of western (speed). I don't know much about paints... but here's my take:
Leo takes you to Joe Reed who is a hall of famer. He was an influential sire in the early days. Rugged Lark was a descendent of Joe Reed. You also have King (P-234) also a hall of famer and influential sire. He was the sire of Poco Bueno. Doc Bar is another hall of famer, he is also a grandson to Three Bars. You also have Lukes Mcluke. Top Bracket is out of Top Deck, wich will lead you to Man O' War and Fair Play. Sugar Band will take you to Peter McCue which get's you to Steel Dust who is one of the foundation stallions for the breed. Traveler is another legend that is worth mentioning.
Your don't have any of the newer champions but you have a lot of old blood...
Now as far as conformation go's... I can tell you she's a gorgeous mare... but I don't have the "eye" to spot the "bad" so I'll leave that to the pro's...
Well, my first impression would be to say "Don't even think about breeding her!", however, you've managed to come up with potentially the very worse conformation shots  No offense, they just do NOTHING flattering for her and I think the awkward stance she has (especially the second one) is making her look 10x worse then she truly is.
It's really impossible to do any sort of successful critique since her stance makes it impossible to tell the straighteness of her legs, and the hunched position makes her hind end look narrow and inefficient while making her back look flat. I'm doubting she actually looks like this.
Do you happen to have (or could you get) some photos of her standing square?
The OP stated that she has no intentions of breeding. She just wants to know about the pedigree and the conformation of her horse.
No, I'm aware of that, but she stated she was curious about breeding and ancestors and quality so I didn't mean my post like that, I was just looking at it from a breeding perspective.
My sweet paint
thank you so much for the answers so far! I'll try to take some better pictures tomorrow because today we have some reeeally bad weather here in Italy (winter is coming brrrrrr).
Spyder: IF... well, I haven't given it much thought but I guess a foal would be for western (depending on his/her talent I would consider having the foal trained for a specific discipline like pleasure or reining, Hollywood Jac 86 was a pretty good reiner, wasn't he?) and definetely for me to keep. I couldn't bare selling a sweet little painted foal
Ok, Photos are coming soon ;-)
