To hog or not to hog?
Haha i just wanted to say that, i love keeping my horse's mane hogged but i was wondering how i should go about it? I'm just sick of blunting scissors all the time by cutting it off :-P I have a tiny pair of clippers that are for clipping whiskers and legs, would they work on his mane or not? I'm getting the feeling they won't be able to get through the yucky bits lol
Yeah I'm thinking that that probably wouldn't work xD maybe invest in some bigger clippers?
hmm i would suggest in getting a bigger pair of clippers, like the ones for shaving the whole body...
If you can get your hands on a pair of old manual sheep shears, they work wonders! Don't go blunt, and chop twice as much hair in half the time. I always cut as short as I can with shears, and then use my small cordless clippers to neaten it up, not running them straight down the neck but coming up the side from the bottom of the neck, if you get me? To round the sides and make it look neater...
Shears like this (mine are oooooold and rusty, and still work a treat. You should be able to get them cheap!) :
A clipper that is designed or small for whisker or ear trimming, may not work on his mane; all depends on the clipper.
I use an Andis Cordless clipper for bridlepaths, and fetlock trimming, as well as whiskers\ears. I use a 15 blade for bridle path, and 10 on the fetlock area and ears. I use a 40 for whiskers. If I am lazy, I will just use the 15 on the whiskers too...lol!
I had a old set of clippers I got from Wal-mart for my husband. I just used them, of course take what you can with scissors and the use the clippers. It probably wasn't as quick as a $100.00 pair of show clippers but it worked good for me. You just need an outlet or and extention cord.
they're actually battery operated clippers, yep they're that small! id say about the palm of you hand or smaller? lol
