Snowing? Ice on the water buckets?!

Ahhh. :evil:

Winter is hitting early in these parts. It's been snowing all week. The fall colors are already past their peak. We plugged in the heated buckets this morning. I'm depressed. I'm not a winter person. :?

Ugh! We moved south from PA nearly 9 years ago and I don't miss the snow. It's been cold and raining here for the past two weeks. Our drought is over but it's been hard to get out there and enjoy the new boy, but at least it isn't freezing and our fall colors are at the very beginning - they don't peak in this area until early November. We don't need to plug in the tank heater until around New Year's.

It's cold and nasty rain here... and "they" are calling for snow tonight and into the weekend. Looks like it's time to start thinking about wintry things... pull Scout's shoes, buy new electric bucket (old one bit the dust last March...), Scout's new, well fitting "emergency" blanket came last week, and I need to start my countdown to summer calendar back up. I miss the Sun already :cry:.

Scoutrider - I feel your pain! Amen to that.

iridehorses - Usually our colors don't peak until into November also. There's a saying that the farmers have around here - I don't remember it exactly - but it's something like every so many years we have a winter that's long, cold, and nasty. And I guess this is supposed to be the year. And, well... So far, it looks like it's well on it's way. :(

That sucks! Here in California, it was like forty all week and then it jumped to like seventy today and its normal. Our winters dont get to the extremes liike some places. We get snow two or three times? Thats about it. The rest is rain or sun.

Its only snowed twice so far here, but it didn't stick! :D
It's just so darned cold all the time! And the summer was really cold too. :(

We had snow here for a week already, it's not almost gone but will return shortly.

*plugs ears* LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA I AM NOT LISTENING!!

*sniffles* I know it. I knew we were going to have an early winter before October even came. You could smell it in the air in September.

I've been saying on and on again that we are going to have not only, an early winter - but this one is going to be long and heavy.

~~~~
I'm not ready though. I don't want it to come at all. I can take the cold, I just hate the snow.
Here's a helpful hint for outside water tanks or indoor for that matter. Try putting a pop bottle in it so that if it does manage to freeze over the tank won't bust just the bottle. The only problem that I can see with the bottle in your tanks would be that some horses might decide to play with it......
^^ good tip :D
Our normal average temps in Oct. is 70ish. I don't think its gotten that warm in weeks and its rained rained rained. I did buy a new extension cord with a shock blocker on it for the tank heaters. Haven't had to dig them out YET :shock:
