What a horse remembers

What are your thoughts on this? Besides training what else does he remember that surprises you sometimes?

well its not that impressive but my dad used to breed pacers. one of our boys was super intelligent. after a fire that ripped through the land where he used to be worked, our trainer used to take the horses to the local race track to work them every morning. the old boy, as we called him, used to paw every few seconds. we would get near the racetrack and he would start neighing loudly. the float was completely enclosed so we figured he wasnt using landmarks as a sign that we were near the track. we always said he was counting when he was pawing and he got to a certain number and would know we where there.

i dont know if it was true or not but it only ever happened when we were going to the track and its like he had his own way of knowing where we were going.

might not be a memory thing but it made me think of him and what he did. he was a beautiful, funny old bugger. i sure do miss that old fella :)

I don't know much abou them remembering, but Misty did something neat. The other day, I walked in the barn to feed them. She was walking out. I said (as I usually do) "are you hungy?" (yes, hungy). She stopped and jerked around, looking at me like "FOOD!!!!!". It was funny.
