event prospect

this is my horse gypsy. she is a 3yo tb/hanoverian. i have had he for about 4 months. she currently stands at 15.3 1/2 hh. a month after i got her i backed her & started riding her & she was being great ! i could w/t/c in an open field & had gone on some group trail rides [with her leading the way] unforunately i broke my arm so she hasnt been ridden in about 6 weeks =[

please critique/ commnet on how you think she would do as an event horse.

also, i just wanted to say that i love this horse to bits & even if she doesnt work out as an eventer [in the future....] im gonna keep her & breed her.

sorry i dont have a real good confo shot of her, i will try to get one today as the one i put up is from 5 months ago & shes grown !

She is a cutie, nice mover, and seems to have a good disposition. She looks conformationaly sound and should make a nice event prospect. I am a huge believer that part of a good event horse is conformation (being physically able to handle the job) and the other part it the will and heart. If the horse truly enjoys to jump, has a great work ethic and is willing to go the extra mile for his/her rider then they will go far if they may not be as well built as another horse. You are starting in the right direction, good luck and have fun with your pretty girl.

thanks ! she definitely loves to jump, the video is from the second time she had ever free jumped. we just stood in the middle & clucked a couple times and she knew what to do...she also broke away from her old owner & cantered around a bunch of times jumping the jump [she wasnt the best at leading back then] she has a total diva self centered personality which i hate in people, but love in horses

Arrogance is actually a positive trait I have been told in eventing. That look at me additude gives a little edge, plus most horses that are arrogance also like to do things right and not make mistakes they are people pleasers. Good Luck with her she is gorgeous

thx ! i love her so much its not even funny haha =]

I know exactly how you feel, that is what makes it hard it is soo easy to get attached to these animals and most people don't understand the bond people have with horses. It makes it even better when they enjoy what you want to do. I always told myself with my homebred mare Shadow that I would go after whatever she enjoyed even though I always wanted to do eventing. Thankfully she did like to jump, she is a great all round little mare but lately she seemed to loose interest in jumping which is why I got Sky. Shadow now takes me for rides in the cart and trail rides. She still likes to jump but mostly when we are on trail rides logs down are the best.
