How to add page numbers in Microsoft Word?
Okay, so I have a lil' problem like this...

I have to add page numbers in a report that I've written for my studies. The problem is that those numbers should turn visible not until the page 3 (I mean Word should start to count them from the first page but the numbers shouldn't exist during the first two pages. Them should start with number 3 in 3rd page). I know how to hide the number IN the first page but the first two pages...? I just don't know.

So could anybody help me, please? I know you're smart and know how to do this .

Ps. My version of the Word is Microsoft Office Word 2003.

Hmmm, i only know how to change the first page, not the first two pages! Can you add numbers individually (not auto page number) on each header or footer? I'm stumped...

Hello, you didn't mention which office version you are using?

Assuming you are using Office 2007, this can be done by setting pages with Section breaks. Here is how it can be done.

1: Open your report, click on the end of the first page
2: Click Page Layout
3: Click Insert Break -> Section Breaks -> Next Page
4: Once onto the next page - Double Click on the footer
5: While on the footer (Design header,Footer Tools will open)
6: Click on the icon Link to Previous

This will remove the link of the footer Page number from the previous page. Delete the two 1,2 footer page numbers.

7: Now click on the footer of Page 3 and insert Page number.
8: Click Format Page Number
9: Click Page Numbering --> Start from: 3 (where 3 is the starting page number).

That's all you need to do :D.

If you are not sure about any step please let us know. I would also advise you to try this first on empty word document and then do it on your report.

Morning TaMMa, I think you still use the same option of Section Break even under Office 2003.

I will search for the tutorial or screen shot guide for you.
