purina strategy and rice bran i have a 25 yr old quarter horse i just started him on strategy which he is doing great on but i was wondering if also adding the stabilized rice bran if it would be to much for him cause the ad i read in a magazine said you don't have to add any supplements so what do you guys thing he looks pretty good for his age but winter is coming so i want to keep him looking good......:D |
I have a 29 yo broodmare and although she loves stratagy which I do feed her some in the summer just b/c. Normally I feed her Equine Sr, Alfalfa Cubs really really well soaked, She also gets free choice loose Buckeye Alfalfa Plus minerals and all the alfalfa hay she wants. It works well for her and she keeps good weight on. Now I have used rice brand in the past but not so much for weight but to keep the sand out of the horses gut. It works very very well for that and since I am on really good soil it dose have a lot of sand too. |
We are just now transitioning to Strategy and rice bran - they have been on the rice bran for 6 months or so, it helps with weight, so unless they ever start to look too heavy, which I don't expect, I will keep it up with the strategy. |
ive mixed rice bran & strategy & it worked really well to help put on weight |
i use strategy for most of my horses, but all the older guys get Equine Senior. i love the stuff! (as do they!) it's a "complete feed" and it has a high oil content so it's easier for them to pass it along. Plus, it's easy to digest so it really keeps hte weight on them. |
can i do the senior feed and rice bran or would the senior feed do it for him just want to keep the weight on him and actually put a little more on him thanks for the advice everyone |
Yes, Senior feed will do it as well, and at his age, it is probably a better choice. |
I used the senior and rice bran together for my 28 yo mare before I had to have her put down and she filled out nicely. Good Luck |
Equine Sr is good or LMF Senior is good too :) But i love Strategy for my two *they are 6 and 7 tho* |
