Congestive Heart Failure
One of the Arabs at my barn has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. They are going to try a medicine on him, I don't know off the top of my head what it is but I'm sure I would recognize the name if it was brought up, but if it doesn't work the vet gave him a year to live. Is there anything that can be done to help along with the medicine?

If its like humans or other animals there isn't much that can be done. Keep them comfortable. The vet put a dog I had on Lasix. I don't know if they have something similar for horses. I believe its basically a diuretic that helps keep the fluids from building up.

yeah they have lasix for horses the give it to race horses all the time but i agree with vidalocco you just have to keep them comfortable or make that hard decision but hugs to the owner of the horse i just had to put one of mine down due to cancer and it wasn't an easy decision but best of luck
