Elaine Banfield Clinics
So I really want to have Elaine Banfield come and do a clinic at my barn. Apparently, she knows my coach Susan really well and told me she'd love to do a clinic at the stables.
So I would like to make a sign or something, to see how many people would actually want to be in or see a clinic there. How would I go about writing this? Kinda lost for words on that. I have all the info on pricing already.
PS: Elaine Banfield Equine Services Just to show who I'm talking about. =]
Generally for running clinics, there's a few things you need to know. First of all will your barn let people trailer in? Are there overnight stalls available? Is the arena and facilities suitable for the kind of clinic you want to run? How mush will it cost to "book" the facility for two days? How much is the clinician's daily rate? Travel charges? Accommodations? How many people will she teach in a day?
Once you have figured out all the costs (ie. $1000 daily rate, $500 travel, $200 accommodations, free facility, will teach 8-10 riders), then you figure out how much each lesson will cost (ie $2700/8 = around $325 for two lessons) how much you want to charge spectators etc..
I always find that it is a great idea to take deposits of around $100 per lesson just so you don't have people backing out last minute and then you're stuck paying the cost out of your own pocket. And for spectators, any money you get from them is gravy. If you decide to run it NFP (not for profit) then divvy up the money you make from spectators to the riders. Or you can keep it as profit.
Then as far as for making posters you'd want to put on it who the clinician is and a short title (FEI "I" judge, Level 3 EC dressage coach, etc..). Put on how many lessons there are (ie - 8-10 a day), what they cost and if people are expected to take 2 or not (phrase this like $150 for one lesson if you don't mind people taking individual lessons, but if you want everyone riding both days then say $300 for two lessons on the poster). Also indicate if there are outside riders coming in, what the haul in fee is and if there are stalls available. Also indicate that a deposit will be required if you're going to do that and that spectators are allowed/not allwed and free or $25 or something. Don't forget to leave contact info on the poster.
Good luck :-) Elaine is amazing. She grew up with my mom and her siblings, and my grandpa actually used to take them all to shows and give them pointers. I worked at her barn for a year before her divorce (she moved). She does fantastic things, and she's such an amazing person, she'll teach you guys tons.
Where are you exactly?
And is this her maried name ?
Wondering if she may be known under a different name?
Elaine Banfield is her maiden name. She was Elaine Banfield-Page but divorced her husband several years ago and dropped his last name. She's currently single as far as a marital status is concerned.
I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Here's a video we took at the Morris Stampede this year - she gave a demo on her absolutely divine Hanoverian stud Icarus (heh heh, my Arab mare has a half-sister by him, long story but ultimately I don't own her anymore). She also gave a demo riding bareback and brideless on her old campaigner Earl Grey but our camera person sucked and didn't get it *glares*
LOL, and just for fun - here's to give you an example of how big Icarus is. God I loved that stallion, I miss him so much, it was so nice seeing him this summer.
I'm 5'6" and he's 17hh, hehehe
If you are 2 hours away and in ON - are you in Kenora? I think Elaine now owns the former Richland Ranch by Richer ( on your way home?). I saw her at the Morris Stampede. So impressive! I am hoping to take a few lessons and have her train one of my horses. Good luck with your learning with horses and school? Have fun.
