Third Show! First full BN!
Ok so I did my first full BN(not a 2'3" divison) on Geof this past weekend at Holly Hill. It went GREAT! We got a little nervous in the Dressage, but still got a 38.6 which I was very happy with! We got a few time faults on XC, because I thought I was going to fast, slowed down for to long, and then went double clear in SJ! I was forth after Dressage and then ended up in fifth overall! I was very happy with it! It acctually was really easy! The course rode VERY well! We are going to train through the winter(not compleatly sure if I'm going down to show and train in FL yet) and go back to work in the spring! Just wanted to share my success!

I was shaking when I dismounted from XC because of all the adrenaline! It was the best feeling ever!

You should get a good digital watch that'll help you out on your CC course. It doesn't have to be one of those over priced "eventing" watches - what I use is just a Timex that I got from Walmart. I just turn it to the digital counter when I am in the Start Box and just as they say "have a good ride" I hit the start button and then head off.
Just keep an eye on it when you are in between fences. It has saved my booty a few times to keep me from getting time faults.
Just does as well, if not the same - as those Event Watches.

great job! I had a friend that was down at HHHT that weekend doing Training so I was stalking results on evententries.com. So I saw your scores and apparently it went well! so glad that Geof is working out for you!
Although that course might have been easy, def don't underestimate a maxed out BN course with technical turns and terrian. It's a whole different ballgame. But courses being easy is just another perk of having a horse who has been-there-done-that!

MIE- I do have a watch and I had my minute markers, I was just reading it wrong or something. lol!
Drew- Yea, HH is NEVER maxed out, but it was a fun course! I never underestimate or leave my horse to do the work, he's run out of a jump with me before, so I really have to set him up right, but he will do what you ask him! He's such a great boy! I couldn't have asked for anything more from him!

Hmmmm. I have never seen a difficult BN course. Since BN is supposed to be fluid, simple, strait forward, relaxing - Maxed out and technical terrain and turns sorta goes against what USEF wants for beginner eventers.
BN is entirely meant to be welcoming for horses new to the sport, and riders.
You should beable to trot a whole BN course.
Interesting. Never heard of it.

hah. then you should come to KS. they're not maxed out but our terrain is very challenging for a BN horse who sometimes can get unbalanced. It's not impossible and it's not so bad that it isn't suitable for a course, but it's challenging. some of the BN courses in FL are maxed all the way around

i live in wi & at one of our events a couple years ago on the BN xc course there was a one stride downhill...i thought it was pushing it, but i wasnt doing that level

yeah the courses that I regularly visit in Missouri are pretty hard. There is one that is basically built on a hill. Some are on the hill, some are at the bottom. Makes for a very challenging course because you go down and up the steep hill. It's the first event of the year in our area and it's the hardest and is advertised in the Omnibus as "moderate-for those with experience at that level" which is pretty accurate. Not one for your first event.
