I leased out my mare for a few months and she came back with this? Is it dandruff?

Yep, just big chunks of it.

best way to get rid of it?

M.T.G or other conditioners should work. They'll make her mane nice and shiny-soft too.

When I was in Pony Club they had us use Listerine (the brown kind), just put it in a spray bottle, spray the roots and massage it in. I dilute it 1:1 with water.
I've also had luck using head and shoulders shampoo on horses. And some people swear by healthy hair care moisturizer: Healthy Haircare Moisturizer - Dover Saddlery.
Hope it helps!

I have never had a problem with this with her before and I have owned her for years. WHat do you think the difference was with this lady? What usually causes it if the horse never gets it? I know its a stupid question that I should know but i've never encountered it before.
