Fidgeting feet!

Ok so lately i've noticed when i ride i fidget with my feet in the stirups because they dont feel right/ comfortable so ill try to move my feet to get them in a better postion but it doesnt help so it causes me to keep trying which is really annoying cause it distracts me from my ridding. i try to stop and fix it to where it feels good but when i start trotting or cantering again my foot will either slip out to where only my toes are on the stirrup or they will be on a really wierd angle. I dont know why i am having this problem. any ideas?

You may be putting not enough or too much weight in your stirrups. One of my parent's friends used to tell me to put in enough weight to hold an egg there but not crack it. You could slao check heel position.

This happens to me too. Usually, if I keep my heels down, consistently, my stirrups don't move.

Hope that helps!

Hi, have up checked your stirrups are at the correct length, usually by holding the stirrup iron under your armpit and your out stretched arm should be the length of your leather with your finger tips touching the saddle, and as a final check when you sit straight in the saddle your iron should knock against your ankle. When you ride balance your wait on the ball of your foot and drop your ankle, the more you practice the more your muscles will strengthen and this will become more easier, also remember that you will shorten your stirrups (usually 1 hole) to jump and lenghen them for dressage.

LOL. I have that problem ALOT! Even when I am cantering, and my feet don't feel 100%, my feet will be *shift shift shift* all the time. = D

Do you have those rubber things in your stirrups? (forgot what you call them, LOL)
