Horse going bald, HELP!!! :D
Ive got a mare that recently had African Horse Sickness, and went really thin, so I stopped using the curry comb on her, as it might have hurt her. She's picked up alot of weight again, enough so that I could start using the curry comb again. The thing is, when I used it the patches I groomed would go completely bald!!! I stopped again, but the person I lease her to didnt do what I asked and kept using the curry comb, so Traces is now almost completly bald!!! The girl stooped now, but does anyone have reasons for it, and tips on how to help my horse?

i have no idea- i suggest keeping a blanket on until she recovers tho..... sovereign downs makes a sea mineral dermal ointment that will promote hair growth- although its meant for rashes- put some of that on her bald spots should help

any pics? then maybe we could get a better idea.
My horse went bald this summer, I tried countless products to help him and found out that one of them severely hindered his healing. What I found that did was was Shapely's MTG. It was awesome, literally in 24 hours I saw new hair growth, I used it everyday and it was thin but steadily coming in. Now you can barely tell that he was bald at all.

Definitely talk to your vet.
&I highly suggest that if you try MTG that you do a small test spot to see if your horse has a reaction to it- there are a lot of horses that get rashes and hives from it.. it all depends.

Heres 1... she isnt bald here, but you can see how thin she was... and if you look REALLY hard you can maybe see the baldness starting. Its just really wierd. The vet says he cant do anything, and it wont hurt her, but Id still like to know why... its confusing:?
