Well.. I'm not actually in NSW yet. My boyfriend and I are looking to relocate over here from the UK hopefully early next year.
I think we'll be hoping to live somewhere on the Northern Beaches, Manly, Dee Why maybe. I am just interested to know if there is much in the way of a horse community in the area. I am over in Manly on holiday at the moment and have struggled to find anywhere to ride other than Blue Mountains or Hunter Valley etc. I would be willing to drive up to around 30 minutes for the right horse.
Eventually (when we move here) I would hope to share/loan a horse maybe 3/4 times a week.. Is this something that tends to happen around here?! x
Well, I must say the Hunter Valley is a great place. Although, it may not seem as big as Sydney, it has a lot of excellent studs and riding academies. There really is a great horse market in the Hunter Valley.
It caters for both english and western riders, and has some great saddleries. I live about 3 and half hours north from the Hunter Valley and I travel down their often to show, and sometimes just to go the the saddleries.
Sydney is a great place if you like big cities, but I find the Hunter Valley a lot better and it has better boarding facilities.
I used to live in the Hunter Valley before moving down south...... it was fantastic for competition and alot of top riders are located there- like heath and rozzie ryan out near lochinvar, sam lyall and many more---
But for what u were looking for i know Centennial Park is where its at- people lease horses for 2-3 rides a week etc... idk what the facilities are like but i know people who have horses on loan from there!
Oh cool, I did see they rode there.. Although only 4km of riding paths :S
We'll see anyway, I will need to investigate further! Someone mentioned something about Frenchs Forest, which isnt far from here.
I have just been for a 2 hour trail ride at Glenworth Valley which was fun! x
I love Armidale, Chinga and I are heading down soon.
