Rocky or not?
I purchased this horse from my aunt in July, and we believe she may be a Rocky Mountain horse, but we're not sure. When my aunt got her last year in May, she was a dark chocolate brown with the flaxen mane and tail, but as you can see from the pictures, she changed color. Last fall when she shed out her summer coat, she was a light brown, then this spring when she shed her winter coat, she faded to this gorgeous palomino color. She's approximatley 7 years old, and is by far the best horse I've ever ridden, but I'd like to know for sure what she is...
And I know, her saddle is too far forward in these pics, I fixed it before we went riding... She's got such a short back compared to what my Appendix Quarter horse did, I do this to her all the time, so I've started saddling her and walking away from her for a couple minutes so when I come back I catch my mistake before I ride...
I am horrible with horse breeds but i must say she is very pretty no matter what she is :)
Thanks, I think she's great. When my aunt (who's never rode a horse in her life) told me they were selling her, I insisted she wait till I got a fence and a chelter built, even though they insisted she's "unridable" lol... Apparently the horse doesn't know that, cause we've been taking hour to two hour trail rides every week since July...
Aren't Rocky Mountain Horses gaited? So is she gaited?
She might be bred Mountain Horse...ride her does she have a 4 beat gait? Not to be mean, if she is shes not bred well...shes a little long in the ear and long in the back...id guess maybe a cross but deffinitly not a full mountain horse...
They're supposed to be, but I don't know if she is or not, I've ridden gaited and non gaited horses, but I can't tell the difference, so that doesn't help...
ride her down a rode and you should be able to count 22.214.171.124, 126.96.36.199...only 1 foot off at a time....
Ah, ok... Then ya, she's gaited...
