Equine Massage Therapists?
does anyone here use them? do you think they are effective/help? how much do you pay to have them service your horse? do you use them regularly or occationally? do you find a good massage therapist hard to come about? are there a lot in your area?

I have an equine massage therapist for my horse, I think it is around $70 for an hour she comes about every month. She uses the classic massage techniques as well as magnetics, and I buy her custom liniment oil. I find that it does help him, he seems extremely relaxed during/after the massage and feels more stretched out and relaxed under saddle the day after. But honestly, for me an equine massage therapist is a luxury, more of a gift to my horse than a necessity. I am sure that for some horses that have a lot of muscle soreness a massage therapist is very important, but my horse is happy and healthy, the massage therapist has never encountered any issue, rather he gets a tune up. He certainly enjoys it and it has clear benefits for him, but it is something he could live on without if he had to. I definitely recommend the use of equine massage therapists due to the benefits, but they are certainly not as important as a vet or farrier.

I do use/have used a massage therapist....I think it helped him a lot, even if he didn't like it one bit! It was $60 for a single session, or $150 for three sessions. She also did some homeopathy techniques, lasering a wound....In addition, she taught me some of the basic movements so I could continue on with it even after the session was over.

thanks for all the info, and please keep the replies coming!!

i ask because im thinking about getting my certification. i already have connections in the racing industry, but there isnt much call for that there unless its a top stable making good money. i also have connections with vets who travel, especially one who goes to a lot of horse shows, and does a lot of holistic work.

now also i am working at a stable that holds mostly show horses, and is pretty high class. this i feel is also a doorway for me as they would actually have the money to spend on it, and would maybe believe it is more helpful than the racehorse owners/trainers do.

i just had some questions on how you guys felt about them. :-)
